American history - Essay Example Walt should join this March as it was influential to the cessation of the war in Vietnam. He should join the protests because the protest was largely peaceful and led to a global phenomenon of peaceful demonstrations against the war. Given the fact that these protests and moratoria were mostly led by students and activists, Walt would be wise to join because he would become part of a major historical event whose multiplier effect led to the end of the War, 6 years later. If Walt fails to take my advice and choose to land in 1968, Walt will be faced with the Chicano Movement demonstrations. The movement led to demonstrations for a better educational reform for Mexican-American students in Los Angeles. More student demonstrations took place in L.A because the Chicano students felt there was unequal treatment in the American Educational system. Thousands of Mexican-American students from the five major schools in L.A pushed for a bilingual and bicultural education using their motto, ââ¬Å"Chicano Power.â⬠It will be unwise for Walt to join the demonstrations because he would be an outcast since white students did not participate in this demonstration and also because a number of protesters were injured, arrested and charged with felony. Since Walt loves politics, he should join Richard Nixonââ¬â¢s presidential campaigns and shun off Hubert Humphreyââ¬â¢s campaigns as it is not wise to align himself with a loser. At the end of the month in C hicago, police demonstrated against antiwar demonstrators. Walt should join this demonstration as it is an important part of the protests against the controversial Vietnam War. Democratic National Convention nominates Hubert Humphrey as its candidate for presidency (Provisions of the Constitution and United States Code Relating to Presidential Elections, par 5).
